BEHAVIOURAL PROBLEMS

There are many behaviours that dogs and cats exhibit that we may find undesirable, and over time, can destroy the bond that we have with our pet.

The reason that we have pets is to enjoy the relationship that we can have with them. When the pet develops a behaviour that we find undesirable, the bonding between us can be tested.

It must be remembered that many undesirable behaviours exhibited by our pets are often normal behaviours, and it is only according to our perspective that they are problems. The best example of this is barking. Dogs bark as part of their normal communication. There are specific times when we find this acceptable, and even amusing, and there are other times when we find it annoying. Just remember that the dog has no idea why it is acceptable at some times and not others

There are many disorders that can be well managed, others can be 'cured' entirely. Unfortunately there are also a small percentage of animals that have an unacceptable behaviour that can not be suitably controlled.
